Πότε θα ανακοινωθούν οι επικρατέστεροι για μία υποψηφιότητα στις μουσικές κατηγορίες των Βραβείων Όσκαρ.
Συνολικά 94 τραγούδια και 149 μουσικές επενδύσεις ταινιών έχουν δικαίωμα συμμετοχής στις μουσικές κατηγορίες των Βραβείων Όσκαρ 2024, σύμφωνα με το Variety.
Η ψηφοφορία για την ανάδειξη των υποψηφιοτήτων ξεκίνησε το πρωί της Πέμπτης, με 390 μέλη του μουσικού κλάδου της Ακαδημίας Ηχογράφησης να έχουν δικαίωμα ψήφου στο φετινό διαγωνισμό. Και για πρώτη φορά εδώ και χρόνια, δεν φαίνεται να υπάρχουν εκπλήξεις ή κραυγαλέες παραλείψεις.
Κάθε ταινία μπορεί να υποβάλει μέχρι τρία τραγούδια και οι συμμετοχές της «Barbie» ήταν οι αναμενόμενες: Το «What Was I Made for» της Billie Eilish, το «Dance The Night» της Dua Lipa και το τραγούδι «I’m Just Ken» με την υπογραφή των Mark Ronson και Andrew Wyatt.
Πέντε άλλες ταινίες υπέβαλαν το μέγιστο των τριών τραγουδιών, μεταξύ των οποίων δύο ταινίες της Disney.
Πρόκειται για την ταινία «Η Μικρή Γοργόνα» (The Little Mermaid) υπέβαλε τα «For the First Time», «The Scuttlebutt» και «Wild Uncharted Waters», όλα γραμμένα από τον Alan Menken (ο οποίος κέρδισε ένα Όσκαρ για την πρωτότυπη ταινία το 1989) και τον Lin-Manuel Miranda – και το «Wish», τα τραγούδια των Julia Michaels-Benjamin Rice, μεταξύ των οποίων τα «I’m A Star», «This Is the Thanks I Get?!» και «This Wish».
Η μουσική επένδυση του «Wish» από τον Dave Metzger έχει επίσης δικαίωμα συμμετοχής, αλλά για τη μουσική επένδυση της «Μικρής Γοργόνας» κρίθηκε ότι δεν έχει δικαίωμα συμμετοχής, όπως αναφέρουν πηγές στο Variety. Έπεσε πάνω στον κανόνα των Όσκαρ που αποκλείει τις μουσικές επενδύσεις που έχουν «αραιωθεί με τη χρήση προϋπάρχουσας μουσικής».
Η μουσική του Alexandre Desplat για το «Asteroid City» του Wes Anderson υποβλήθηκε αλλά επίσης κρίθηκε ότι δεν έχει δικαίωμα συμμετοχής. Οι μουσικές για τις ταινίες «Wonka» και «Flora and Son» αποκλείστηκαν επίσης επειδή παραβιάζουν έναν άλλο κανόνα της Ακαδημίας Κινηματογράφου: για τις μουσικές που «μειώνουν τον αντίκτυπο από την κυρίαρχη χρήση τραγουδιών», εξηγούν οι πηγές.
Και οι τρεις ταινίες, ωστόσο, προκρίθηκαν στην κατηγορία των τραγουδιών και δικαίωμα συμμετοχής στα Όσκαρ έχουν το «Dear Alien Who Art In Heaven» από το «Asteroid City», το «A World Of Your Own» από το μιούζικαλ «Wonka» και «High Life» και το «Meet In The Middle» από το «Flora and Son».
Ως συνήθως, η βετεράνος Diane Warren υπέβαλε δύο τραγούδια: το «The Fire Inside» από το «Flamin’ Hot» και το «Gonna Be You» από το «80 for Brady».
Η Diane Warren έχει προταθεί για 14 βραβεία από το 1987, χωρίς να έχει καταφέρει να κερδίσει, αν και πέρυσι της απονεμήθηκε ένα τιμητικό Όσκαρ «για την ιδιοφυΐα, τη γενναιοδωρία και την ένθερμη αφοσίωσή της στη δύναμη του τραγουδιού στον κινηματογράφο».
Δύο νέα τραγούδια από το «The Color Purple» προχωρούν επίσης στην επόμενη φάση των Όσκαρ: το «Keep It Movin’» και το τραγούδι των τίτλων τέλους «Superpower».
Η ταινία «Killers of the Flower Moon» του Martin Scorsese έχει δικαίωμα συμμετοχής τόσο στην κατηγορία της Καλύτερης Πρωτότυπης Μουσικής όσο και του Καλύτερου Πρωτότυπου Τραγουδιού, με τη μουσική του αείμνηστου Robbie Robertson και ένα τραγούδι, το «Wahzhazhe (A Song for My People)» από τους Osage Tribal Singers να περνάει τις εξετάσεις της εκτελεστικής επιτροπής του μουσικού κλάδου της Ακαδημίας Κινηματοράφους.
Όπως αναμενόταν, τα τραγούδια από τις ταινίες «American Symphony», «Elemental», «Flora and Son», «The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes», «Rustin», «Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse», «The Super Mario Bros. Movie» και «Trolls Band Together» βρίσκονται επιπλέον στη λίστα.
Η ψηφοφορία του πρώτου γύρου ολοκληρώνεται τη Δευτέρα 18 Δεκεμβρίου. Οι λίστες με τα 15 τραγούδια και τις 15 μουσικές επενδύσεις που συγκέντρωσαν τις περισσότερες ψήφους σε κάθε θα ανακοινωθούν στις 21 Δεκεμβρίου και στη συνέχεια οι ψηφοφόροι του μουσικού κλάδου της Ακαδημίας θα αποφασίσουν για τις πέντε τελικές υποψηφιότητες σε κάθε κατηγορία.
Οι υποψηφιότητες των Όσκαρ 2024 θα ανακοινωθούν στις 23 Ιανουαρίου και η τελετή απονομής των βραβείων θα διεξαχθεί στις 10 Μαρτίου.
